A Romantic Weekend in Kiel
Kiel is a wonderful destination for a weekend for two. Day one combines the romantic Kiellinie with the city centre and an evening by the water. Day two takes the ferry to Laboe, to the beach, and ends with the sunset over the fjord. Salty air, the sound of the sea and maritime flair for lovers.

Day 1
Day 1 — Kiellinie and an evening by the water
The first day combines a walk along the Kiellinie with the city centre and a romantic evening with a fjord view.

Hand in hand along the Kiellinie: the waterfront promenade leads along the water through Duesternbrook, past yacht harbours and quiet coves. A bench with a fjord view invites you to linger.
Tip: Pack a small picnic — the Kiellinie has cosy spots right by the water.

In Duesternbrook, the elegant fjord district with villas and boat harbours, there are cafes and restaurants with water views — a relaxed lunch for two.

A stroll through the old town
An afternoon in the city: along Holstenstrasse, past the Holsten Fountain to the Old Market with St Nicholas' Church. Little shops, cafes and an ice cream in between — relaxed and unhurried.

Back to the water: on the Kiellinie or at the boat harbour the afternoon can wind down over coffee and cake while the sailing boats pass by.

Day 2 — Ferry, beach and sunset

In Laboe you can stroll the promenade and enjoy the beach. The Naval Memorial rises in the background, ships pass offshore — plenty of room for a relaxed morning.

At Laboe harbour, fish restaurants serve the fresh catch — prawn rolls, plaice or matjes right by the water. A maritime lunch for two.

Beach time for two
The afternoon belongs to the beach: a beach chair, the sound of the sea and the wide view over the Baltic. If you like, walk barefoot along the water and gather shells.
